Keleti pu ticket office

the Keleti pu ticket office. yesterday I went there around 1pm and there was a queue easily 2 hours long. they only had 2 or 3 tellers to handle over 200 international departures. it was mad. solution? stay up all night, and hit the counter the next morning right at 7:45am! of course there were two people in front of me, and one of them was a very strung-out frenchman who couldn’t sort out the situation with his bicycle, so it still took about 20 minutes (imagine having to wait behind 80 people like this!).

came right home and booked the ryanair ticket to London, where I finish this trip. unfortunately since I didn’t book it yesterday, it’s the difference of nearly 60 Euro more. Another day another dollar, unfortunately not for me.

Since I’m departing, tomorrow, for places unknown, things around here may be sparse for a little while.

  1. I have encountered this problem many times, travellers often complain. We (Budapest tourism service providers) have addressed this problem many times to the Hungarian Railways and the official answer is always “this is why we offer the opportunity to buy a ticket in advance”.

  2. budapesthotel, that’s an unfortunate ‘official answer’! i mean, not being able to buy the ticket online is one thing, but then not having an efficient ticket-purchase counter made the whole process a nightmare-in-disguise. And of course, in the 20 minutes I was standing in line, around 15 people showed up behind me. I’m sure within the hour the queue was out the room!

and Lucy! hey hey!! nice to know you’re keeping track! I’ll give you lovers a call soon!
