Queens (DEFEND IT!) borough president’s office have published a slideshow of images that proclaim ‘the Future of Queens’. There’s one slideshow for the arts (above, #24) which shows planned expansion (a hot topic ’round these parts) of the Museum of the Moving Image; however tag words like ‘development’, ‘new’ and ‘building’, with architectural renderings, models and completed projects can be found on nearly every-other slide (depending on one’s biases, I counted eighteen).
So the future of Queens is to build lots and lots of condos, complexes and commercial space while the arts sector only has an expansion of an already-existing facility to boast about.
