Queens (DEFEND IT!<\/em>) borough president’s office have published a slideshow of images that proclaim ‘the Future of Queens’<\/a>. There’s one slideshow for the arts (above, #24) which shows planned expansion (a hot topic<\/a> ’round these parts) of the Museum of the Moving Image<\/a>; however tag words like ‘development’, ‘new’ and ‘building’, with architectural renderings, models and completed projects can be found on nearly every-other slide (depending on one’s biases, I counted eighteen).<\/p>\n

So the future of Queens is to build lots and lots of condos, complexes and commercial space while the arts sector only has an expansion of an already-existing facility to boast about.<\/p>\n
