At least, that’s the suggestion of this photo’s caption, showing the 1907-building of the only bridge that both Iron Man<\/a> and Batman<\/a> have been associated with: <\/p>\n

The opening of the Queensborough Bridge in 1909 was the single most important event leading to the rapid growth of Queens. The bridge, shown here under construction in 1907, brought an urban life to western Queens.
When the Second Avenue elevated line began running across the upper level of the bridge in 1917, residents of Manhattan’s East Side began coming to Queens in large numbers. Commercial development soared. Land and property values in Queens increased as the population grew. Housing developments and industrial centers quickly replaced farmlands.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Note the spelling: Queensborough<\/em> – interesting.)<\/p>\n

A quick look show that the photo was actually taken of the bridge’s pylons placed on Roosevelt Island<\/a>, not the borough proper of Queens.<\/p>\n
