{"id":11708,"date":"2014-11-15T10:37:09","date_gmt":"2014-11-15T17:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicknormal.com\/normalblog\/?p=11708"},"modified":"2015-10-31T18:24:29","modified_gmt":"2015-10-31T22:24:29","slug":"a-visit-to-pioneerworks_-in-red-hook-brooklyn-high-art-local-art-art-art-everywhere-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicknormal.com\/normalblog\/a-visit-to-pioneerworks_-in-red-hook-brooklyn-high-art-local-art-art-art-everywhere-art\/","title":{"rendered":"A visit to @PioneerWorks_ in Red Hook, Brooklyn: high art, local art, art art everywhere art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The slideshow below will give you a glimpse of the layers of art on view at <a href=\"http:\/\/pioneerworks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pioneer Works<\/a>, from wheatpaste graffiti on the perimeter, to artists studios on the top floors, to a sprawling main gallery showcasing world-renowned artists, and the current habitat of <a href=\"http:\/\/clocktower.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Clocktower<\/a> (recently evicted from their Lower Manhattan space after <a href=\"http:\/\/clocktower.org\/about\" target=\"_blank\">40 years in operation<\/a> there), among other residents and platforms there.<\/p>\n<p>After nearly a year of trying to get there, I finally got there earlier this month, will be there again tomorrow for <a href=\"http:\/\/softwareforartistsday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Software For Artists Day<\/a>, and they&#8217;re hosting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/stilt-city-kickstarter-launch-party-tickets-13747811073\" target=\"_blank\">another event next Thursday<\/a> to launch an artists residency in the Rockaways &#8212; when it rains it pours.
