{"id":11487,"date":"2014-08-02T11:35:46","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T18:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicknormal.com\/normalblog\/?p=11487"},"modified":"2018-09-26T07:18:21","modified_gmt":"2018-09-26T11:18:21","slug":"budget-travelers-beware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicknormal.com\/normalblog\/budget-travelers-beware\/","title":{"rendered":"budget travelers beware"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the hotel wave continues to de-fabricate the Long Island City landscape, NewYork.com ran with <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160531055042\/http:\/\/www.newyork.com\/articles\/hotels\/which-new-york-city-hotel-neighborhood-is-right-for-you-06818\/\" target=\"_blank\">this hotel guide<\/a> that includes a snapshot of the LIC condo-shoreline next to the headline title, &#8220;Budget Travelers.&#8221; Of course this image-text juxtaposition is entirely misleading, as those towers are not budget hotels with &#8220;skyline views of Manhattan&#8221; but a semi-segregated and insular neighborhood of condominium towers only erected in the last few years (LIC on the other hand was consolidated in 1870).<\/p>\n<p>Which is just weird. Typically the &#8216;budget hotels&#8217; are located in Queensbridge, Dutch Kills, and other sub-neighborhoods of LIC. And the &#8216;skyline views&#8217; from those hotels are actually quite nice.
