I love staring at this ad on the subway platform. It really does a good job of summing up #QNSboro, and I almost always find something new in it to look at and ponder – including a few things I don’t recognize in the world’s most diverse borough! Here are a few highlights:
You can’t really gain access to the roof of the ‘science museum,’ but that’s still a good drawing; I’m intrigued by the black flag with red square in front as well, and the dragon is no doubt one of the highlights of the overall drawing.
I like the depiction of Forest Hills – and the Ramones! – in this section.
You either know your borough – Hookah Chaka! – or you don’t.
One of the few places I have yet to visit: Aqueduct Racetrack.
This one sums it up: graff, waterways, power plants, people of color, redheads, and food.
Queens has the best ices.
One of those really remote locations you either know or you don’t.
One of my favorite odd places to visit: the areas around Howard Bech, the air train, Broad Channel; that said the ‘Irish curry’ is no doubt a reference to Sunnyside.
