Continuing with my recent documentation efforts around the Queens Plaza, here are some more shots showing some pedestrian curbs being expanded and even re-designed in some areas. The image above is the only view from the north side of the Plaza – directly behind me there are some baby trees that will likely be planted in the coming weeks. And it’ll be interesting to see what they do with the north side of Queens Plaza South between 23rd and 24th which is currently parking for around 30 cars – will they reclaim this for pedestrians, I doubt it. Still the curb re-designs are quite nice – in some places they’re still not completely seamless with the street, meaning baby strollers and wheelchairs and stilt walkers will still have to “step up” to the curb – maybe there’s another redesign for the actual street to solve this, but also not likely.
