A curious thing about the clocktower at Queens Plaza that I’ve never noticed before, not until I was up inside it last night, is that the roman numeral for the number 4 is actual IIII instead of the more common subtractive IV. I can only assume this was a stylistic decision, since their numerals rotate visually from the center (thus V is upside-down for 5). This would have looked awkward, with IV upside-down, given where the supporting bar is how the other numbers were laid out. Of course I’m intrigued by the fact that I hadn’t noticed this for over 7 years, despite being visually curious in general and usually recognizing these things.
