This NASA manual from 1984 contains tips and tricks for astronauts on how to take good photos in space! Before the era of reliable digital imaging systems, which is no doubt what is used by 99% of space missions now, photography was a manual, analog process whose images wouldn’t be seen until weeks after returning to Earth and processing the film. Additionally, a little bit of trivia few photographers even think about: the Hasselblad used in space, the 500EL/M model, had a motorized back that held around 500 photos per back – because when you’re in space, perhaps in a spacesuit, the last thing you want to think about or would be able to do is manually advance your film! Not to brag or anything, but I held one of those rare units back in 1999 and they are a work of art!
